A Compassionate Leader in Global Ophthalmology
Dr. Julibeth Alvarez is an internationally trained ophthalmologist passionate about exceptional eye care. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, she moved to Miami, FL, USA, in 2003 and has since established herself as a respected medical professional.
Dr. Alvarez earned her medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, Escuela de Medicina Jose Maria Vargas 1997. Following her graduation, she worked as a General Practitioner in a rural area and completed an internship at a private clinic. Her dedication to ophthalmology led her to pursue further training at Hospital Dr. Domingo Luciani, where she completed her Ophthalmology Residency in 2000.
After achieving certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and passing the USMLE step, Dr. Alvarez undertook an internship at Hospital del Maestro. Subsequently, she obtained a restricted medical license and served as a General Practitioner in underserved areas for five years.
In August 2017, Dr. Alvarez obtained her full unrestricted medical license in Florida, which allowed her to refocus her career on ophthalmology. She pursued a year-long fellowship program at the esteemed Beraja Medical Institute, specializing as a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. For the next five years, she provided exemplary eye care services at the clinic, gaining valuable experience and honing her skills.
Driven by a desire to expand her expertise, Dr. Alvarez took a leap of faith and applied for a second fellowship. She is in the final stages of completing a Global Ophthalmology Fellowship at Emory University, set to conclude in July of this year. Through this program, she has gained valuable insights and exposure to international ophthalmic practices, further enriching her abilities as a compassionate and knowledgeable eye specialist.
